Cesar Pelli

Argentine-American American architect César Pelli designed some of the world's tallest buildings, including the Petronas Office Towers in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, a recipient of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2004. In 1991 the American Institute of Architects (AIA) named him one of the ten most influential living architects, and in 1995 he received the AIA Gold Medal in recognition of a lifetime of distinguished achievement in architecture.  

Born October 12, 1926, in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina, Pelli studied architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán graduating in 1949. He went on to receive a master’s degree from the University of Illinois School of Architecture in 1954. In 1977 he established his own architectural firm, Cesar Pelli & Associates, now Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects.  That same year he was selected to be the dean of the Yale School of Architecture in New Haven, Connecticut, and served in that post until 1984.
