International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Exhibitions
The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

The 2020 theme is "Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World."

The structures and research included in this collection were all created prior to the pandemic. Indeed, some of the buildings were constructed decades ago.  Nonetheless, we hope that by studying how these structures succeeded or fell short, designers of the future may find better ways forward.
