At its opening, MIT’s Architecture Program had amassed collections largely gifted by practicing architects comprising 2000 photographs, around 1000 prints and drawings, 400 plaster casts, and numerous specimens of tile, pottery, and stained glass. As a gift from Mrs. Horatio Lamb (née Annie Lawrence Rotch), sister of the American architect Arthur Rotch, these windows numbered among those specimens of stained glass. Though never formally a part of the library collection, Institute archives from the early twentieth century discuss hanging these stained-glass windows as part of the workspace in Rotch Library. A few photographs from the mid-twentieth century also show these artworks hanging in the offices of library staff before they were eventually moved to the Annex.
