Madrasas
This collection of sites shows the variety of the madrasa as an architectural form as constructed by Muslim societies throughout history. While on one level madrasa is simply the Arabic word for school, and most schools in Arabic speaking societies are called madrasas, whether sacred or secular and regardless of faith or educational level. In the religious context, however, and thus for scholars of the architecture, it denotes a certain type of building devoted to religous education. Those are what we feature here. The gallery contains just a sampling of the sites, images, texts, and videos available in Archnet.
