Document for the Sale and Purchase of Three Female Slaves: a Study of a Minuscule Inscription from the Military Museum in Sana’a (Military Museum, no. 5645)
The study explains and analyzes a document concerning the sale and purchase of three female slaves, recorded in one of the wooden inscriptions preserved in the Military Museum in Sana’a. The importance of the inscription lies not only in its linguistic content, which includes several new vocabulary words, or in its essential social theme, which sheds light on one of the daily transactions practiced by ancient Yemenis, but also in the fact that it is one of the longest and largest wooden inscriptions discovered so far.

تتناول الدراسة بالشرح والتحليل وثيقة بيع وشراء ثلاث إماء، مدونة في أحد النقوش الخشبية المحفوظة في المتحف الحربي بصنعاء، ولا تكمن أهمية النقش في محتواه اللغوي المشتمل على عددٍ من المفردات الجديدة ولا في موضوعه الاجتماعي المهم الذي يسلط الضوء على إحدى المعاملات اليومية التي مارسها اليمنيون قديمًا فحسب، وإنما أيضًا لأنهُ يُعد من أطول النقوش الخشبية المكتشفة حتى اللحظة وأكبرها حجمًا.
