ACTED launched on 22 June 2011 in Kabul the Afghanistan Livelihoods Network (ALN), destined to enhance the capacity of livelihoods sector workers, to create space for dialogue and to provide knowledge management services.
The ALN takes a people-centered approach to development, with a focus on community ownership and long term livelihoods impact. A focus on livelihoods will include a focus on developing capacity, assets and resources when and where they are most needed. ALN will provide network members with up-to-date information on the application of livelihoods approaches in Afghanistan. In the course of the coming months, the ALN is expected to expand its services to include its own premises, drop-in library facilities, training services, exhibition space and sales point. Within 18 months, we hope the Network will be in a position to open regional offices in the North, East, South and West of the country, closer to the field.
