Arabian Chevron Villas
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Situated on the outskirts of Dariyah, the programme consists of the construction of five, two-storey individual villas for oil company executives. The site, an ancient palm grove, was once the location of a mud-brick village. The architect used the refurbished earthen structures as the focus of the site design and provided them with new functions such as guest accommodation and a women's club. The villas are characterised by a composition of open and closed spaces. Terraces, courtyards, and galleries occupy half the floor area of a villa. The villas are provided with private gardens linked to a central communal area.
