Akhoundov Library
Baku, Azerbaijan

The building is three-storeys high and the part above the main entrance rises to four storeys above ground level. A courtyard separates the library from the adjoining building. The site configuration imposed the choice of an asymmetrical layout for the building, also reflected in the façade treatment. The main entrance is marked by a raised, monumental portico formed by three broken arches. The lower storeys are pierced by windows, loggias and arches line the exterior of the upper floors.
