2015-18 Survey

This is used as a residence, with the entrance on the east and the other three sides closed. A partition wall aligned in the east-west direction has been built to the north of the east entrance to divide the space into two rooms. There is now a ceiling at the level of the octagon above the squinch arches, creating an attic space underneath the dome.

(Paragraphs 2nd, 3rd and 4th from the 2015-18 Survey are translated using Google Translate)

[Plan] According to Monuments of Delhi, the exterior dimensions are 7.3m square. A photograph from 1959-62 shows the north entrance, and there are deep arches on the south and west sides of the interior, so it is possible that it was opened on all four sides.

[Exterior] The façade has a protruding frame surrounding the arch, and the walls and octagonal drum have decorative tops, with the lotus petals at the top also remaining.

[Interior] The interior is thickly painted, and although many aspects are unknown, it is likely that the octagon is formed by squinch arches, with square corbels at the corners forming a circle, and a dome on top.
